I’ve joined MySpace. I blame the demise of WritingUp and the fact that I don’t have enough distractions to keep me from cleaning. If you’re on MySpace, my profile is here (the jerseygirl89). Come find me and add me, because right now my only friend is Tom, the founder.
A lot of the profile questions reminded me of filling out match.com profiles back in the dark ages. (Sidenote: If you do decide to use an actual dating site, go to chemistry.com, not eharmony.) And I was surprised to find a section for company affiliations because I really thought the site was geared toward teenagers. Though most of hubby’s friends are on there.
Anyway, much as I love and embrace popular culture, I have a stubborn streak about things that EVERYONE is into (I won’t watch American Idol, I didn’t watch Survivor, etc.). So when I read in Newsweek that MySpace is declining in popularity and Facebook is gaining, I knew I could safely join.

I’m sort of afraid of MySpace. I can’t say exactly why…

Yanno, I’m really glad to hear this. I fought joining MySpace for so long, but finally got dragged into it by a couple of friends. As convenient as it was for me when Keywoman set up WritingDown, this is the first time that I’ve felt good about selling out.
(yes, I’m also someone who will flat out refuse to do something, even if it’s enjoyable, because it’s popular)
