I Can’t Fit Into The Jeans I Wore When I Was Four Months Pregnant

November 6, 2007 · 8 Comments

I’m on a diet.

I am on a diet.

I have been on a diet for over six hours now.

I have not been on a diet since 1996. Until I had children, I would just increase the amount of time I exercised, or eat 100 calories lunches for a while, to lose weight. I think diets are always about restricting (no carbs!) or proscribing (grapefruit at every meal) things that are impossible to maintain for life. Or maybe I just have control issues.

Anyway, after giving up dieting, I lost some weight and learned to accept my size 10 self. Unfortunately, I am no longer a size 10. Pregnancy caused me to forget what portions are. I no longer have time to exercise for an hour and a half a day. Jeans that I wore when I was four months pregnant with Ironflower no longer fit me.

So I have given myself a calorie limit for each day. And that’s it.

No fancy calculations or food combinations or whatever. Just me and my math skills.

Just writing this makes me want a glass of wine (or four) and a huge slice of cheesecake. And I don’t even like cheesecake.

(BTW, this is not going to become a diet blog or anything. But if anyone wants to check up on my habits in a couple of weeks, I’d appreciate it.)

I’m registering for WW tomorrow. I canNOT do it on my own anymore. Used to be if I skipped dinner one night and went out dancing, I’d lose those pesky extra 5 lbs! ACK!

My 1st thought when I made the decision to join was “Oh gawd…when will I be able to have a glass of red wine??!!” Think I better go to the liquor store tonight and have my own little farewell party.

Good luck (to you AND me!)

I weighed the most I EVER weighed that day I went into the hospital to have Julia. Two weeks after she was born, I’d lost all the baby weight and then some.

Somehow, when I went in to confirm I was pregnant this time, I weighed as much as I did the day I gave birth to Julia. So every single day from this point until I give birth again, it is fair to say I am the heaviest I’ve ever been.

    It’s kind of sad.

Good luck with your diet. You can do it!

Good luck! I’ve done online weight watchers before (back on it now) and lost 40 lbs. It’s the same idea, just using points instead of calories. The points are calculated using calories, fat, and fiber. Wo, now I sound like a commercial for them. hehe.

You don’t have time to exercise everyday? I think a kid is a solid 8-10 hours of exercise daily, isn’t it?

The problem is that we don’t take time to eat when we’re supposed to, and then we end up grabbing junk, or eating all your calories too late at night when your body doesn’t need them anymore.

I’ve got some articles on healthy eating and weight loss that might help >>> http://diet.commonsenseliving.com/

And don’t lose heart. It doesn’t happen overnight. But you can start losing a few pounds a week once you start eating better. And you don’t have to count calories, or give up anything. That’s just too much hassle in my book!

Let me know if I can help!

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll see some results soon. :-)

And I’ll be sure to find the weight you lose, don’t worry.

Diet. ACK! The evil word has been uttered, it’s out there now… I hear it. It’s knocking on my door! SHHHHHHHHhhhh… don’t tell it where I am.

Seriously, good luck!! Eat everything off of salad plates, cut the portions in half, drink water before, during and after and walk as much as possible.

May the forces of speedy metabolism and quick growing muscles be with you!
