Top Ten Reasons Why This Post Sucks

March 5, 2008 · 17 Comments

1. It has no point or theme.

2. It is being typed by someone who’s had three hours of sleep.

3. It is not my originally planned rant against people who get their children’s school photos retouched.

4. It is being written by someone who lost the plot of Dora the Explorer this morning. Seriously.

5. It does not make fun of Paris Hilton’s newest accessory, a spiritual guru.

6. It is being created between coughing fits.

7. It does not bitch about the mere existence of this site.

8. It is so lame it actually only has eight reasons.

I love it when lists of ten shock you by only giving 8 things. Feel better. I’m sorry you are so wiped out. Take a few No Doze. We’ll pretend it’s 1995 again and we need to pull an all nighter.

I actually like the Celebrity Baby Blog. I’m not a huge fan of celebrity gossip and I think it’s a little annoying that everyone must know which insanely expensive blanket Celebrity X bought for his/her baby, but overall, I admit to liking the site.

Sometimes, the article she features make me want to beat the celebrity in question (Christina Aguilera and that obnoxious British woman who is the equivalent of Paris Hilton in 10 years), but other times, the articles really surprise me (Charlotte Church is one and Keisha Something Or Other from that Whale movie).

AFF - I used to take NoDoze and Metabolife together. Thought makes me shudder now.

Reiza - I have to admit that I haven’t spent much time there, but the photos really bug me. I don’t need to see Angelina at the airport!

73% of my posts can be filed under reason one and two.

School photos being retouched? Paris Hilton has a spiritual guru? The end is near, I tell you. THE END IS NEAR!

    I hope you feel better!

You’re adorable! I’m on your same wave-length too…my post today was also lame!!

  • Jess // March 5, 2008 at 10:41 pm

Oh, sweetie!! I hope you feel better soon. Your 8 reasons beat 10 other reasons any day, ’cause you’re hilarious. Even while sick and suffering from sleep deprivation.

NoDoze, Metabolife, Cigarettes, and Mountain Dew. That’s how I got through freshman year. Hmm. Maybe it’s because my parents didn’t buy me a spiritual guru accessory. Damn parents!

    Don’t worry…we don’t think you are lame…we all have our dry spells..lol

ooooh, another sickie. it seems like that flu is making its way around the blogosphere!

i hope you’re feeling better soon!

  • jerseygirl89 // March 6, 2008 at 10:00 am

Leslie - That is not true - about your blog. But you’re probably right about the end.

LunaNik - Thank you. And your post wasn’t lame.

Jess - Trade the Mountain Dew for Diet Pepsi and you’ve just described how I’ve survived most of my life. Clearly I need a spiritual guru.

    canadianflake - thank you.

Zoloftmom - This flu is evil. Ugh.

Retouched school photos? Seriously? Nothing like giving your kid a low self esteem people. Yikes!
    I actually enjoyed this post!
    Hope you feel better.

Dude, the fact that your list only had 8 made my day. Seriously.

    Feel better, sexy.

  • VirtualSprite // March 6, 2008 at 4:53 pm

I’m reluctant to let my kids have retakes, let alone touch-ups. They always have their hair sticking up or a booger in their nose or their eyes closed in real life. Why should school photos be any different?

Photos of myself, however, will definitely be edited before they are released. It’s that cool mommy double standard that I embrace because, well, I said so. :-)

Hope you feel better. I enjoyed the post anyway!

  • HRH // March 6, 2008 at 4:53 pm

That was serious funny. 3 hours seems to suit you.

  • jerseygirl89 // March 6, 2008 at 7:05 pm

Matteroffactmommy - You are too sweet!

Kathryn - That was going to be the whole gist of my post.

Becky - Thank you so much.

VirtualSprite - We can have the mommy double standard because our self-esteem has already been ruined!

HRH - Thank you. Last night I got five, so we’ll have to see how that works.

Ok, so I confess I did have my kids photo retouched. But it was only to remove the snot bubbles from his nose.
And only because this was the 3rd time I tried to reschedule with this photographer because each time something came up. I think finally they’d had enough and said you’re doing this whether you like it or not. Even though I protested. So in the end they wound up actually removing the snot for his photo and I was truly amazed ;)
